The Dakhla Downwind Challenge is a multi-day kitesurfing expedition along the southern Moroccan Atlantic coast, from Dakhla to Lagouira. Founded by Moroccan kitesurfer Soufiane Hamaini, the event combines sport and exploration, bringing together international riders to experience remote coastal landscapes and desert environments. The format is a non-competitive downwind journey of around 500 km over several stages, with daily rides between coastal points and bivouac-style camps. Participants ride long-distance sections in varied wind conditions, supported by full logistics including transport, meals and safety teams, emphasizing endurance, autonomy and group experience rather than racing.
