Atlas Mountain Race is an unsupported ultra distance cycling race crossing some of Morocco’s most remote and demanding terrain. Starting in Beni Mellal and finishing in Essaouira, riders follow a fixed route of around 1,350 km through the High Atlas and Anti Atlas, facing long climbs, broken roads and forgotten colonial pistes where self reliance is essential. The race is single stage and the clock never stops. There is no outside assistance, no prizes and very limited resupply opportunities, placing the emphasis on endurance, navigation and decision making. Riders can expect extreme conditions, large elevation gain and sections that require pushing the bike, all within a raw mountain environment that demands respect and experience. Atlas Mountain Race is not just a physical challenge but a complete adventure in autonomy. It is designed for riders with solid bikepacking experience who are capable of managing fatigue, logistics and safety in remote terrain. In return, participants are rewarded with extraordinary landscapes, powerful solitude and a deep connection to Morocco’s mountains and people.
